Operation
Self-cleaning filters with an auto backwash function operate in a flow direction from the outside to the inside. The bottom tangential inlet connector allows unfiltered fluid to enter the filter housing. Contaminants are deposited on the filter element’s outside surface, while clean filtrate travels through the element’s inside diameter, then out the top tangential exit. Within the control panel, users can set their differential pressure data. Inlet and outlet valves close and drain and backwash valves open for a set period of time after the differential pressure throughout the system reaches the pre-defined level of pressure drop. Debris deposited on the element’s outer surface will be drained and collected through the bottom drain throughout this procedure. This cycle repeats itself according to the pre-determined settings and process requirements. Multiple filter elements are offered in Auto Back Wash systems, allowing one element to be in use while the other is being cleaned. This will aid in maintaining a continuous flow of fluid.
