Description
Pulse jet candle filters consist of candle-shaped filters made from equi-diameter pipes that are covered with polypropylene, polyester, nylon, or PVDF hose. Candles are stacked vertically within a pressure vessel. Candles with unique cross sections ensure safe filtration while ensuring filter cakes to adhere. Candle number varies with filtration area of filter. Filtration and cake formation occurs under pressure. Dry or wet discharge through blowback is possible. For continuous operation two filters are installed.
Operation
Filling: Upon filling the vessel, the liquid to be filtered and pressurized is injected into the vessel. This liquid contains the precoating media.
Pre Coating: Throughout the filtration process, the liquid with filter aid is circulated continuously to create a layer that allows efficient filtration and allows high clarity of the filtrate.
Filtration: Filtration fluid is circulated through pre-coated filter media (if pre-coating is needed) and re-circulated (process dependent).
Cake washing: In cake washing, the fluid is continuously circulated through the cake. The length of time it takes to re-circulate depends on the process.
Cake drying: The cake is dried in a vessel by passing air, nitrogen, or steam through it in a forward direction.
Cake discharge: Through the reverse direction of the liquid flow, the accumulated cake is dislodged.
