Description
Solid – liquid separation is most easily accomplished with the horizontal sparkler type filter. It can also be used apart from filtration to give the filtered liquids a sparkling effect with the help of filter aids. It is available in different output capacities with a variety of pumps to suit individual requirements.
Operation
Under positive pressure, the unfiltered liquid is fed into the filter. The liquid travels downward and finds its way through openings on the sides of the filter plates. Through the central channel formed by interlocking pressure cups, the Filter media holds the foreign particles as the liquid pressure increases, allowing only the clear filtrate to pass through. The filtering continues until either the cake holds no more cake in the unit or the filtrate flow becomes too slow due to cake resistance. The output of the filter depends on the diameter and the number of plates. The filters are optionally available with steam jacket for filtration of difficult liquids that solidifies at lower temperatures.
